We are Salford Racing, the University of Salford's Formula Student Team. Comprised of students from a variety
of disciplines we focus our efforts to plan, design and build a race car to compete in the IMechE Formula Student
competition. Salford Racing’s team is comprised of engineering, business, and media roles whom all closely work
together to achieve the most from the great opportunity Formula Student provides.
Our passion was displayed by
attending the recent Formula Student 2021, where despite various difficulties we faced along with other
teams, we arrived at the event to gain feedback to immediately begin our work on the 2022 car. The car
is developed and manufactured in-house using the skillset of our team, parts that cannot be created
using our facilities are sourced from local manufacturers with whom we have strong ties.
Our key partner is the University which provides vital facilities, essential in manufacturing our in-house parts. This is mostly done with the help of the MakerSpace team which hosts the Morson Engine Room.
Formula Student is a student engineering competition held annually in the UK. Student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula style racing car.
